Everton supporters won’t be surprised to hear that Idrissa Gueye is once again attracting interest from Europe’s elite following another solid season at Goodison Park.
French outlet Le10 have claimed that Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain have once again re-ignited their interest in Gueye as the Merseyside club face another fight to keep hold of their player.
It is said that PSG, who failed in their attempt to sign the defensive wall during the January transfer window, are still keen on his services as Everton want between £26m-31m for his signature.
In January, Everton pushed PSG away from one of their star men and they need to do the same again if they want to maintain their European ambitions for next season.
Gueye is an underrated player in the Premier League and he is Everton’s key player given the fact that no-one can match or produce what he brings to the table.
At the age of 29, it may seem logical to part ways with the player especially if a big offer comes in for him, but a player like Gueye can be the difference between Marco Silva reaching the heights of Europe next season or not.
If Everton can add new players to their squad this summer and with it keep hold of their main players then their chances of a top-seven finish will only increase.
Not only that, Gueye makes the players around him much better, he is a shield for an inconsistent backline and he allows a Gylfi Sigurdsson to free himself further up the field.
Everton may end up having the money to spend in the transfer market if they sell Gueye, but they would do very, very well to find a player that can match his qualities and fill his boots.
