Everton have been linked with a move for the Arsenal forward.
The Mirror reported last month that Everton could try and sign Danny Welbeck this summer.
Welbeck is set to leave Arsenal on a Bosman when his contract at the Emirates expires next month.
Everton definitely need to bolster their firepower over the summer months, but bringing him to Goodison Park may be a mistake.
The 28-year-old turns 29 in November and his record illustrates that he just isn’t a reliable attacker.
Welbeck, who earns £125,000 per week in North London [Spotrac], hasn’t kicked a ball for Arsenal since November due to injury. In fact, the England international has managed 88 Premier League appearances since joining five years ago, averaging 17 games a season.
For what he might be looking for in terms of salary, it just wouldn’t be a good investment. ]
Even without the injury history, Welbeck is a squad player at best and not really good enough for where the Toffees want to be as a team.
He joined Arsenal in 2014 for £16 million [The Telegraph] and has netted 16 league goals since then.
