The Everton winger has been linked with a temporary move away from Goodison Park.

According to a recent report from the Daily Mail, Derby County are keen to sign Everton’s Ademola Lookman on loan this season, but the Toffees would be crazy to sanction a temporary switch.

The teenager may have played a bit-part role during pre-season, but that says more about his escapades for England’s World Cup winning under-20 side than anything else.

Lookman proved during his brief appearances last season that he can be a creative catalyst just when Everton need him the most, and his showings for the young Lions earlier this summer suggested he is ready to take Goodison Park by storm.

While he may not be a regular starter from the outset, he would have joined Everton back in January knowing the challenges ahead.

There is a long hard campaign ahead for an Everton side competing on four fronts, including in the Europa League, and Lookman will get plenty of chances in due course.

Derby may want the 19-year-old but Everton are surely not considering the deal. They would be handing over one of the most talented teenagers in the country just when they need him the most.

Many seasoned observers are tipping Ronald Koeman’s side for a top-four challenge this time round, and Lookman’s sparkle could be vital in tight matches.

Gone are the days when he would benefit from a loan move. The Everton youngster is the real deal and he should be included in their match day squad more often than not, even after their significant summer spending.
