Everton and West Ham United may have renewed hope of snatching Union Berlin striker Sheraldo Becker at the end of the season.

Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg claimed on deadline day that Becker had received interest from both Everton and West Ham.

Plettenberg later claimed that Becker decided to stay with Union, so no deal was done in the final hours of the window.

However, Bild reporter Christian Falk seems to think a summer deal could be on the cards.

Falk has told Caught Offside that one of West Ham or Everton did make a cash bid for Becker, but Union said no as they chase Champions League qualification.

Falk does though claim that Union know they could lose Becker at the end of the season, with Falk believing a Premier League switch is possible.

“Both West Ham and Everton are interested in Sheraldo Becker. We’ve just had it confirmed that Union received a concrete offer on Monday, though it’s not immediately clear which of the two submitted it,” said Falk.

“Union, however, now have a chance to potentially secure Champions League football next year and they’re still in the cup, so that’s why they were reluctant to sell Sheraldo. But in the summer they know they could lose him. He’s got a contract that runs until 2025. I could imagine seeing him switch to the Premier League in the summer,” he added.

Who is Everton and West Ham target Sheraldo Becker?

Becker was born in Amsterdam and joined the famed Ajax ranks at the age of just nine.

Whilst Becker spent 12 years on the Ajax books and featured for the Jong Ajax team, he never made the first-team breakthrough.

After a promising loan spell at PEC Zwolle, Becker was sold to ADO Den Haag in 2016.

13 goals in 95 games wasn’t exactly stellar, but Union saw enough potential to lure him to Germany back in 2019.

Becker is now a menace in the Bundesliga and has racked up seven goals and four assists in 19 Bundesliga games this season.

A player with absolutely ‘searing speed’, Becker would add a real turn of pace to either Everton or West Ham.

Becker can play up front or out wide and that kind of versatility would be valued strongly by Sean Dyche or David Moyes.

The Suriname International will be a prominent name in the summer with Everton and West Ham potentially poised to try again.
