West Ham United and Everton were both linked to the Cardiff City striker.

West Ham United and Everton both need strikers this month.
Marko Arnautovic looks very likely to leave the Hammers, while Everton have lost Oumar Niasse to Cardiff City.
And one of their reported targets, Emiliano Sala, has just joined a Premier League rival and it really wouldn’t be a good reflection on West Ham or the Toffees if he kills it in England.
Sala, linked to the London Stadium and Goodison Park in November [Daily Mail], has just joined Cardiff in a £15 million deal [Daily Mail].
He didn’t cost a fortune. He cost an amount that both Everton and the Irons could very easily afford, and if he rips up England’s top flight then questions should be asked about why they didn’t challenge the Bluebirds.
Let’s face it, they are both much bigger clubs than the Welsh outfit, and Sala – who netted 12 times in 19 Ligue 1 outings for Nantes this season – probably would have chosen either one of them over Neil Warnock’s side, if the choice was there, but evidently it wasn’t.
The 28-year-old could flop in the Premier League, in which case nobody will argue that West Ham or Everton should’ve gone for him, but if he takes the division by storm then it leaves both a little red-faced.
