Everton should be looking to sign Sporting Lisbon striker Bas Dost.

Everton have boost their squad with a number of signings this summer, but manager Ronald Koeman must now focus on signing a centre forward.

Jordan Pickford, Cuco Martina, Michael Keane, Davy Klaassen, Sandro Ramirez and Wayne Rooney have all arrived to boost Koeman’s options, but the departure of Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United does leave a huge hole to fill.

The Belgian hit 25 goals last season, and whilst Koeman has goalscoring options such as Klaassen, Rooney and Ramirez at his disposal, another centre forward is needed.

Koeman has regularly used a target man in his teams, with giant Italian striker Graziano Pelle a feature of his Feyenoord and Southampton signs, with a similar player now seemingly being targeted as a replacement for Lukaku.

Last week, Sky Sports reported that Everton wanted to sign Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke, but Eagles boss Frank de Boer has told the Daily Mail that he doesn’t intends to sell his star goalscorer.

If Koeman is still in the market for a big, physical centre forward to lead the line, then making a move for fellow Dutchman Bas Dost could be an option after his superb season with Sporting Lisbon.

Dost, 28, joined Sporting from Wolfsburg last summer, and scored a remarkable 36 goals in 41 games, and Correio da Manha reported in May that Everton were one of the Premier League teams interested in signing him.

Standing at a giant 6ft 5in tall, Dost is the strong, aerially dominant striker that Everton may well need if they can’t land Benteke, and Koeman should be familiar with his work having managed Feyenoord when Dost scored 38 goals in 39 games for Heerenveen.

Everton may have to switch targets as Palace stand firm on Benteke, and Dost appears to fit the bill for the Toffees, with Koeman seemingly targeting another target man to boost the Goodison Park ranks.
