Everton wanted Jack Hendry two years ago, so perhaps they should join their Premier League rivals in the race for the defender.

The Mail reports that Hendry – who has been one of the Scottish Premiership side’s best performers this season – has drawn comparisons with John Stones, so perhaps those comparisons should alert one of the sides who previously had the 22-year-old on their radar.

The Scottish Sun reported in a 2015 report that Everton had been monitoring Hendry before he made a move to Wigan Athletic that ultimately did not go to plan, with the defender leaving two years later having only made three league appearances for the Latics.
It certainly appears that Hendry has stepped his game up since returning to Scotland, and should only get better as he gains more experience, so it is no surprise that the likes of Southampton, Newcastle and Crystal Palace are all interested, as reported by the Mail.

His development since Everton were last interested should surely tempt the Toffees to get back into the race, especially as the club could arguably do with bolstering their options at the heart of the defence with a number of ageing players already in their squad.
And if he proves to be anywhere near as good as Stones if Everton do decide to enter the chase and ultimately manage to win the race for his signature, then the deal to bring him to Goodison Park will quickly look like an absolute steal.
