Leeds United striker Mallik Wilks has impressed out on loan this season.
Wilks has impressed on a loan spell with Accrington Stanley this term, where he has scored five goals.
The 18-year-old forward has looked comfortable at League Two level, despite his tender years, and his form has attracted Premier League attention.
However, leaving Leeds for Everton right now would be a major error.
Leeds are likely to need a new number nine next season, as their current striking options all have question marks lingering over them.
Pierre Michel Lasogga is only on loan, and seems unlikely to be around next campaign, Caleb Ekuban is not scoring frequently and Marcus Antonsson appears to have little future with the Yorkshire club.
It means that Wilks may have a chance to stake his claim for a first-team place at Leeds, when he does return to Elland Road next summer.
If he was to throw that chance away to join Everton, then it would only damage his prospects of playing first-team football.
Everton, themselves, are looking for a new forward, but they have a far bigger budget than Leeds and are expected to spend big on a number nine.
The Toffees also have Dominic Calvert-Lewin in their ranks, and he appears to be considered a prized prospects.
Wilks’ first-team opportunities at Everton, therefore, are likely to be limited, and he would be far better off staying put than pursuing a move to Merseyside.
