Everton want Arnautovic, he’s already rejected them once; would January be any different?

West Ham United’s Marko Arnautovic is thought to be a target for Everton.

West Ham United forward Marko Arnautovic has starred over the last year – but now there are concerns that he could be on the move in 2019.

The Austrian attacker – who joined West Ham from Stoke in 2017 – initially flattered to deceive under Slaven Bilic, but found his best form when David Moyes turned him into a centre forward.

After finishing last term with 11 goals and five assists, Arnautovic has already grabbed five goals and one assist in 10 Premier League games this season, continuing to star in claret and blue.

However, Arnautovic is now 29 and could move on, with his brother and agent Danijel telling Gianluca Di Marzio that he wants to play in the Champions League and win titles at this stage in his career.

Danijel Arnautovic added that Everton are keen to sign Arnautovic, but such a move surely isn’t what the West Ham star is looking for right now.

Everton attempted to sign Arnautovic from Stoke in 2016, and the forward was quoted by TEAMtalk as saying that he spoke to Ronald Koeman and Romelu Lukaku about the move, but chose to reject the Toffees and stay with Stoke, before heading to West Ham a year later.

Since that move, what has changed? Everton remain in the battle for the ‘best of the rest’ spot in the Premier League, realistically sitting shy of the top six but harbouring ambitions of breaking into that elite band in the Premier League.

That isn’t too far ahead of where West Ham are, and certainly don’t satisfy Arnautovic’s need for Champions League football or titles any more than West Ham do, meaning that whilst he would be a sensational signing for the Toffees, any bid will surely meet the same response their 2016 move did.
