Everton are reportedly interested in luring Isco to Goodison Park this month after failing to make any signings on deadline day – a player that Real Madrid and ex-Toffees boss Carlo Ancelotti once said “plays well in every position”.
The 31-year-old was released by Real Madrid in December after clocking up 353 appearances in all competitions. Even this season, he played 19 times for Madrid. He is ready to go, and remains match fit. He almost moved to Germany.
Indeed, second-placed Bundesliga side Union Berlin wanted the 38-time Spain star but a move fell through at the last minute. He remains a free agent and on the look out for a new side. The Times claim Everton could consider Isco.
Speaking about Isco in his first stint as Real Madrid manager, Ancelotti gave his verdict on Isco. He praised the Spain star’s versatility in midfield and the final third, applauding his ability to show both defensive and attacking know how.

“He’s played well in every position. I think we should use him more going forward than in defence, although the key to his current run of form has been his defensive attitude,” Ancelotti was quoted as saying by BeIN Sports, in 2015.
Everton interested in Isco: Ancelotti said he can play in every position
What a signing Isco would be, for Everton. A player Everton were even linked with during Ancelotti’s reign. But, would Isco want to join the Toffees in the position they currently find themselves in? You would argue, he might not be keen.
Perhaps, Everton could arrange a deal that would see Isco pen a deal until the summer. With an option, of extending his stay if the Toffees remain in the Premier League. But as things stand, it does not look good. They sit in 19th place.
