Everton are reportedly one of a number of Premier League clubs looking to sign Southampton defender Kyle Walker-Peters – a player that midfielder Dele Alli once branded a “fantastic player” back in 2017.
Walker-Peters, 25, has excelled for Southampton since joining the Saints back in 2020 from Tottenham. He has clocked up 82 appearances under Ralph Hasenhuttl, playing on the right or the left – and becoming an England international.
Reports over the weekend emerged that Everton want to sign Walker-Peters from Southampton. A further report then said that Arsenal and Manchester United are looking at a move, while Spurs have a buyback clause of £30million.

Back in 2017, Walker-Peters was handed his Tottenham debut by Mauricio Pochettino for the first game of the 2017-18 season. He won the man-of-the-match award during a 2-0 win over Newcastle.
After the game, Walker-Peters was branded “fantastic” by Dele – in quotes published by the Daily Mail. He also raved about the defender’s work rate in training, saying his debut was a “great performance”.
“He’s a fantastic player. He’s been working really hard in training. It was a great performance by him, so there is going to be some competition now. I am really happy for him,” Dele said, on Walker-Peters five years ago.

Everton could do with a right-back. Seamus Coleman and Nathan Patterson are the clubs current options. But the latter has had his injury issues since joining the club from Rangers, for a fee of £16million.
Coleman is getting on and many agree that his performance levels have dropped. While still a top-class professional, it might be that the Irishman needs replacing and Walker-Peters would be a stunning signing.
