Everton want Viktor Gyokeres and pundit David Prutton thinks he would become a real fan favourite at Goodison Park.

The Toffees really need to find a new striker in the final hours of the transfer window.

Links to the likes of Beto, Paul Onuachu and Michail Antonio look set to amount to nothing, leaving Everton to scramble before the deadline.

One option appears to be Gyokeres, who is understood to be on Everton’s wish list.

Transfer insider Dean Jones suggested just a couple days ago that Everton are trying to sign Gyokeres ahead of the deadline.

New boss Sean Dyche is allegedly approving of a late push for the Swede, but The Sun’s Alan Nixon reports that Coventry are seeking a £25million deal.

Everton have cash after selling Anthony Gordon to Newcastle United but whether they will commit £25million to a Championship striker remains to be seen.

Prutton backs Everton fans to love Viktor Gyokeres

The clock is ticking and Everton are really running out of time to get a new striker on board.

Coventry won’t be in the mood for negotiating a lower fee in the final stages of the window, so Everton will need to come up with the cash for Gyokeres.

The former Brighton and Hove Albion talent has scored 12 times in 28 Championship games this season whilst also bagging four assists.

Add in 17 goals and five assists in 45 outings last term and Gyokeres looks destined for the Premier League one day – whether it’s now with Everton or down the line with somebody else.

EFL pundit David Prutton has now told Sky Sports that he thinks Gyokeres has many qualities you want in a striker.

Big, strong, a natural goalscorer and most importantly a hard worker – something he thinks Everton fans would ‘absolutely adore’ right now.

Prutton thinks Gyokeres would be a ‘wonderful’ signing for Everton – so now it’s over to Kevin Thelwell to try and do a last-gasp deal.

“He can occupy a back four on his own,” said Prutton. “He’s big, he’s strong, he knows exactly where the goal is, he’s got a work ethic that I think Everton would absolutely adore right now and he would make a wonderful addition,” he added.
