The Toffees forward, previously linked with Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, helped his side into the Premier League Cup quarter-finals.

Everton Under-23s manager David Unsworth has praised Anthony Gordon after the striker scored late on against their Sunderland counterparts to give the Toffees a 2-1 win and put them in the quarter-finals of the Premier League Cup.
Southport’s Merseyrail Community Stadium played host to the Merseysiders and the Black Cats on Friday night, and after a goalless first half, the hosts opened the scoring in the 66th minute through Bassala Sambou’s penalty.
Although Williams Kokolo equalised for the visitors with just nine minutes left to play, the victory – and progress to the final eight of the competition – would go to Everton as Gordon curled home an impressive free kick with just three minutes remaining.
The Academy graduate, who turned 18 in February, penned a deal earlier in March that will keep him at Goodison Park until June 2022, and has enjoyed an impressive campaign for Unsworth’s side, establishing himself as an Under-23s first teamer.

Indeed, first-team coach Marco Silva commented on Gordon ahead of the January transfer window, insisting the Toffees would not be letting him go following reported interest from Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, according to the Liverpool Echo.
After the game, Unsworth sang Gordon’s praises, telling the official Everton website: “It was a great goal and I thought Anthony was terrific tonight.
“That’s the best he’s been since he’s been with us, he led the line brilliantly. We decided to play him as a centre-forward and not coming in from the sides and he showed great pace and willingness to run in behind. He moves beautifully and he’s so fast. He was outstanding.”
