The teenager is the captain of England’s under-18s.
Everton under-23 coach David Unsworth has been singing the praises of one of the club’s young defenders this week – as reported by the Liverpool Echo.
The player in question is talented England youth international Morgan Feeney. The 17-year-old has recently begun playing with the under-23 side and has impressed Unsworth with how quickly he has adapted to this new level of playing.

It even led him to suggest that Feeney had similarities to an Everton defensive great. Unsworth is quoted by the Liverpool Echo as stating:
“He’s from the Dave Watson school of defending.
“He’s a massive Evertonian and the only problem is he’s got red hair!
“He’s a wonderful boy, captain of England under-18s, highly thought of and he’s on a great journey.”

Dave Watson spent 15 years at Everton after joining from Norwich City in 1986 – helping the side to the First Division title in 1987 and an FA Cup win in 1995.
He was an exceptional defender who went on to play for England and it appears that Unsworth has faith in this talented Everton youngster to potentially go on a similar trajectory.

Feeney, who has captained England at under-18 level, is certainly a player for Everton to be keeping an eye on, especially with their current crop of defenders getting no younger.
Perhaps Feeney is a future Everton first-team star.
