Sunderland have reportedly taken Everton youngster Michael Collins on trial.

According to The Sunderland Echo, Everton youngster Michael Collins is on trial at Everton at the moment.
It has been reported that the left-back was in action for the Sunderland Under-18 side against their Manchester City counterparts this past Saturday.
The 18-year-old did relatively well for the Black Cats’ Under-18 side, as he started the match and played for the entire 90 minutes.
Sunderland are playing in League One this season and could get promoted to the Championship at the end of the campaign, and playing in the second or third division could help teenager Collins in his footballing development.
James McCarthy comments on future
Meanwhile, Everton central midfielder James McCarthy has told Off The Ball that he will make a decision on his future in the summer transfer window.
The 28-year-old Republic of Ireland international has been on the books of the Toffees since the summer of 2013 when he joined from Wigan Athletic for a transfer fee reported by The Daily Mail to be worth £13 million.
According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, McCarthy is out of contract at the Toffees in the summer of 2020.
McCarthy told Off The Ball, as transcribed by The Liverpool Echo, regarding his long-term future: “I’m not sure. We’ll sit there in the summer and see what happens.”
