As per a report by journalist Alan Nixon, Everton are planning to make a late bid for Crystal Palace striker, Jean Philippe-Mateta in the final hours of deadline day.
Everton now readying bid for Jean Philippe-Mateta
It seems as if Sean Dyche’s men are looking to bolster their forward line in the winter market, with Andre Ayew touted to join the club.
Now, Everton are set to make a second bid for Jean Philippe-Mateta, after their first attempt to sign him was turned down by Crystal Palace, according to a report on Patreon by journalist Alan Nixon.
This is because the Toffees had proposed a potential loan switch, which is a type of deal Patrick Vieira’s side were seemingly opposed to.

As a result, Everton have a second bid in the works for Mateta, and they are willing to meet Crystal Palace’s set asking price.
The reason is simple; the Merseyside-based club are ‘desperate’ to sign a striker in the final hours of the January transfer window.
With Dominic Calvert-Lewin missing half the season due to a knee injury, he has understandably not managed to pull up any trees since his return to the side. Sitting in 19th place in the Premier League table, the club are in serious need of a goalscorer.
The Toffees must wrap up Mateta deal
Keeping that in mind, Everton have to ensure that their second bid for Jean Philippe-Mateta is accepted, as their requirement of a striker cannot be overstated.
It would be harsh to judge the Frenchman’s poor season too harshly, as he has made a mere 3 league starts at Selhurst Park.
As a result, it is no surprise why the £50,000-a-week ace has not managed to put the ball into the net more often that he would have liked to.
However, Jean Philippe-Mateta could very well do so in an Everton shirt, if the bid that Crystal Palace are set to receive gets accepted.
