Everton are already reportedly plotting a scheme to sign Udinese striker Beto in the summer, with the Toffees having a deadline day bid rejected for the attacker last week.
According to Mondo Udinese, Sean Dyche’s side are putting plans into motion to sign the Portuguese forward in the summer, with Everton having a £20m shot down by Udinese after the Serie A side hit back with a £35m transfer demand, something the Merseyside club were not willing to pay.
As per the report, Beto is expected to leave Udinese at the end of this season after another impressive season in the Italian top-flight for the 25-year-old, who this campaign has already hit seven goals following on from a year where the Lisbon-born star scored 11 in Serie A.
With Everton failing to sign a striker on deadline day or in January as a whole, Dyche will be hopeful that his current attacking options have the quality to keep his new team up in the Premier League, which would allow the former Burnley manager to move in for Beto.
Indeed, at 6’4″ the Udinese star is an archetypical Dyche striker who can flourish in this new-look Everton system, and with the Toffees still interested in the Portuguese forward, Premier League safety could see another bid come in for the talisman in the off-season.
Although £35m might be steep for an attacker of Beto’s quality, Everton will be desperate to find a new long-term strike partner for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who this season is really feeling the absence of Richalrison following his move to Tottenham in the summer.
Everton signing Beto could be a risk worth taking
Everton are in need of some serious work in the summer transfer window, and if Dyche can steer the club clear of relegation with outside investors also coming in to help finance the Toffees, a deal to sign Beto could be made despite the obvious risks.
After all, the attacker is ideal for what Dyche wants in a striker. And alongside a quality striker in Calvert-Lewin, Beto could be perfect for the Merseyside club heading into the new season, with the forward himself a player who could thrive in England.
