Simon Jordan has told TalkSPORT (31/01, 11.15AM) that Chelsea star Conor Gallagher would be a “hell of a signing” for Everton if Sean Dyche can convince him over a move to Goodison Park – but questions why he would move to Everton.
Dyche has been confirmed as Everton’s new manager and will be working hard in the final hours of the window to strengthen his Toffees side. He has less than 12 hours to bring maybe one or two new faces to Finch Farm on Tuesday.
Fabrizio Romano reported on Monday that Everton had tabled an initial £40million offer to sign Gallagher. Another £5million in add-ons. But it is widely believed that Gallagher is not in favour of an Everton move, who sit in 19th place.
Gallagher, 22, has also been linked with a number of other Premier League sides. His old club Crystal Palace, and even third-placed Newcastle. Jordan said Everton getting Gallagher would be an incredible bit of business by the Toffees.
“If he [Dyche] can get Conor Gallagher in, which has been rumoured, that would be a hell of a signing. He is the kind of live wire that would drag everyone to a new kind of intensity, look what he did at Palace,” Jordan told TalkSPORT.
“I can’t imagine why he would want to go from Chelsea to Everton. If Gallagher is available, there will be a plethora of clubs interested in him – starting with Palace. But at Everton, he might be in the Championship, which he will not want.”

He certainly would. Jordan is right to suggest that his Palace form is proof that he would shine for the Toffees. He is the kind of player that is willing to get nasty, to work his socks off in the middle of the park. But also, to score goals.
Gallagher had a hand in 13 goals in 39 Palace games during the 2021-22 season. In a side that were mostly in the bottom half of the Premier League. But Gallagher has surely eclipsed the level of a relegation battle, since that.
