Everton could still sign Andre Ayew with the veteran forward a free agent after his contract was cancelled with Qatari Stars League club Al-Sadd – but Simon Jordan does not believe a move for Ayew will improve the morale at Goodison.
Ayew, 33, is now without a club and has been linked with a move to Everton. The Daily Mail claim that Everton are in direct talks to sign the 113-time Ghana star. The Toffees failed to make any signings on deadline day, to fans’ despair.
But it might be that they still make a signing in the form of Ayew. The ex-West Ham and Swansea man has impressed in the Premier League in recent years. He had a hand in 65 goals during his 141 games at Swansea, over two spells.
Playing 50 times for West Ham, he scored 12 goals and laid on five assists. Since joining Al-Sadd in Qatar, he’s played 39 times – scoring 22 goals. He is out of contract now, and Ayew is a potential new Everton signing, on a free transfer.

Simon Jordan gave his verdict on TalkSPORT on Wednesday morning (01/02, 10.40AM) on Everton bringing in Ayew: “They could still get him through the door because he is a free agent, but that ain’t going to lift anyone’s morale.”

Everton need additions in the final third. Realistically, they could have additions in most areas of the pitch. But if they are going to enter the free agent market, signing Ayew on a contract until the end of the season gives them an option.
No, it will not entice Everton fans. But, it gives them a player with Premier League experience, the ability to nab the odd goal and a player that can come off the bench and play in a variety of attacking positions. Not ideal, but must be done.
