Everton reportedly already face competition to sign Villarreal winger Arnaut Danjuma, with Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest now in the race for the Dutch international.

According to Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth, Forest are also interested in signing Danjuma following reports from Cadena Ser that Everton had made a bid for the 25-year-old attacker, who Marca claim has a release clause worth £45m.

Previously at AFC Bournemouth before making the move to Spain in 2021, Danjuma has been one of the most productive wingers in La Liga since swapping the English south coast to Villarreal, with the forward bagging 22 goals and four assists in over 50 appearances for the Yellow Submarine.

And now, Danjuma’s form has caught the eye of Premier League clubs, with Everton very interested in signing the Netherlands star this month. However, interest from Forest could throw a spanner in Frank Lampard’s plans to bring an attacker to Goodison Park.

Indeed, Forest are expected to be financially backed once again this month following their incredible summer of spending earlier in the season. And beating Everton to Danjuma would be quite the statement from Steve Cooper’s side given how highly-rated the attacker is on the European scene.

The stakes have never been higher for Everton this January, with the moves Lampard making this month potentially what decides his job at the Toffees’ Premier League status for next season. And as a result, signing Danjuma is a must for the Goodison Park side.

As we know, Everton are in desperate need of new attackers this month, and signing Danjuma ahead of a Premier League rival like Forest will be a huge boost to the entire club, with the fans in need of something to give them hope about the long season ahead.
