PSV Eindhoven are now set to make Everton an offer for the permanent transfer of Jarrad Branthwaite. The defender has impressed the Eredivisie side during his loan deal this term.
That is according to the Daily Mail, which reports that PSV sporting director Marcel Brands is exploring a deal. The one-time Everton chief hopes to buy Branthwaite before the winter market slams shut. While Goodison Park chiefs could look to cash in to better their budget.
But Brands must battle interest from AS Roma to see PSV buy Branthwaite. The centre-half has caught the Serie A side’s attention whilst at the Philips Stadion. His performances have also put scouts working for Manchester City on alert having dazzled in the Europe League.

Everton are yet to determine Branthwaite’s long-term future after sacking Frank Lampard. But club chiefs accept they must look to sell some players to improve their finances for the 44-year-old’s replacement. So, Branthwaite could be an option whilst his stock is now high.
The 20-year-old is still under contract with the Toffees through to June 2025 having signed an extension in December 2021. His terms also include an option for a further 12 months. Yet the England U20 gem has only made 13 first-team appearances since joining the Blues.

Brands wants PSV to make Branthwaite’s loan transfer from Everton permanent
Everton signed Branthwaite from Carlisle United for just £1m in January 2020 while Brands was the club’s director of football. But he was unable to earn a key role in Lampard’s team, Carlo Ancelotti’s or Rafa Benitez’s. Although the 6 ft 5 gem’s potential impressed Ancelotti.
“Branthwaite is training with us,” Ancelotti said, via quotes by the Liverpool Echo, in July 2020. “He is really young but a really skilful defender with a lot of ability.”
Branthwaite went on to make his Everton debut soon after and enjoyed five of his outings in Ancelotti’s sides. He also went on loan to Blackburn Rovers in January 2021 but suffered a season-ending ankle injury. The Blues’ relegation battle under Lampard hurt his chances.
Now, though, Brands is convinced PSV should make Branthwaite’s season-long loan into a permanent transfer from Everton. He has appeared 16 times for the Eredivisie side across all competitions. He also started against Arsenal for his only Europa League outing so far.
