A select round-up of the latest news relating to Everton…

Wojciech Szczesny - Arsenal

According to a report from the Sun, Everton manager Ronald Koeman wants to sign Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny this summer.

The Polish international has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium and spent last season on loan at AS Roma.

It had been expected Szczesny would return to Italy for a second spell but Everton are allegedly keen to step in and ensure he has another crack at the Premier League.

Jose Fonte celebrates after scoring the third goal for Southampton

In other news, the Sun claims Everton have made a £9million bid for Southampton centre-back Jose Fonte.

This comes just 24 hours after the Toffees were linked with a move for Swansea City player Ashley Williams, and it appears clear Koeman wants to bring in an experienced defender who knows the English top flight while he has the chance.

Fonte has been an unsung hero for Southampton for many years and they would surely be reluctant to part company with him unless he was desperate for a move.

And finally, the Sun is also reporting that West Ham United are attempting to hijack Everton’s proposed move for Aston Villa midfielder Idrissa Gueye.

The former Ligue 1 star has a £7.1million release clause in his contract and it has been claimed the Toffees activated it, but now it seems they face competition with just a month of the transfer window remaining.
