Everton are interested in an out-of-window transfer for Isco but the free agent dreams of a move elsewhere. Even though the Real Madrid hero is in talks with Turkish side Konyaspor.

That is according to AS, which reports Isco dreams of heading to Major League Soccer after his switch to Union Berlin collapsed. The midfielder discussed joining the Bundesliga outfit during the January window. But the two parties could not agree on the terms for his arrival.

Now, Isco has swiftly turned his focus to moving across the pond to join an MLS outfit. The 30-year-old would jump at the chance to continue his career in the United States as it gives him the chance to experience a new culture. Yet his path to America is, right now, blocked.

MLS allows up to 62 franchise players throughout the division. It allows clubs to omit some players from their salary caps due to their public image or relevance in the game. But each of the allowed slots are currently occupied by players like Carlos Vela and Xherdan Shaqiri.

So, Isco is now weighing up signing a short-term contract with another club until the next transfer window. Alternatively, he may elect to sit out the next few months to join an MLS franchise in the summer. But remaining a free agent would be his least desirable outcome.

Konyaspor have confirmed talks to sign Everton target Isco in a free transfer

Isco, who turns 31 on April 21, has already now been a free agent since late December. He agreed to the mutual termination of his contract at Sevilla just four months after he joined the club. The midfielder also saw his expected transfer to Union Berlin collapse in January.

Die Eisernen pulled the plug on Isco’s arrival in the Bundesliga as they felt he changed his demands, per 90min. It adds that the Spaniard has since instructed his agent to find a club he can join. Isco’s agents have also contacted Everton to offer an out-of-window transfer.

Reports by The Times also note that Everton are now considering signing Isco in an out-of-window transfer. But Konyaspor vice-president Mehmet Akcan has told AS on Friday: “It is correct, we are in a negotiation process with Isco. I can tell the dialogues are going well.

“We are not yet sure if we reached an agreement, otherwise we would say so openly. We are doing everything possible to close the signing. We have time until the 8th of this month. But I think everything will be resolved with Isco.”

Isco, though, is dreaming of a move to MLS over a transfer to Everton or Konyaspor. While the Toffees sit 19th in the Premier League table, Konyaspor sit eighth in Super Lig. But MLS rules could still deny the Spaniard his switch to America until, at least, the summer market.
