Everton are reportedly on the verge of making their first January sale, with academy striker Nathan Broadhead set to sign for Ipswich Town on a permanent deal.
According to the Daily Mail, the League One side had a medical with the Tractor Boys over the weekend after being recalled by Everton from his loan stint at Wigan Athletic, with Broadhead now on the verge of leaving the Toffees for good to sign for Ipswich.
Once lauded by Sunderland’s sporting director Kristjaan Speakman as ‘incredible’, Broadhead has been at Everton his entire life after coming through the academy, growing up alongside the likes of Anthony Gordon, Jonjoe Kenny and Kieran Dowell.
However, despite plenty of potential and being called up by Wales’ senior team, the 24-year-old is now set to leave Everton for good, with Broadhead signing for Ipswich on a permanent deal arguably the best move for all parties involved.

Indeed, the Bangor-born striker only made two senior appearances for Everton during his entire time at the club. And for Broadhead, signing for a club like Ipswich, who currently sit third in League One, could be the perfect transfer for the attacker’s career.
The striker has proven to be a reliable goalscorer in the division during his time out on loan with Sunderland last season. And for Ipswich, Broadhead can finally call a club a home and build on his once-promising career, with the Suffolk side ideal for the attacker.
Everton right to authorise sale as Ipswich secure Broadhead signing

Getting the first January sale through the door can often lead to more movement, and for Everton, allowing Broadhead to leave for good is a smart decision given how old the attacker is and how small the Welshman’s chances were of playing for Frank Lampard’s side.
Whilst details on a transfer fee are unknown, any small financial boost will be beneficial for Everton, who must now start focusing on moves of their own if they’re to escape another relegation battle after last season’s near-miss.
