Leicester City have reportedly joined the race to sign Lorient winger Dango Ouattara, with Everton already sending an enquiry for the 20-year-old Burkino Faso international.

According to the Daily Mail, the Foxes have joined their Premier League rivals in the chase to land Ouattara, who this season has been one of the best attackers in Ligue 1 with the youngster bagging five goals and five assists for the high-flying Brittany club.

Labelled by Foot The Ball as an ‘explosive’ winger, Ouattara has flourished this season both out on the left and the right as Lorient have established themselves as one of the surprise team in Europe’s top-five leagues this campaign. And now, Premier League interest has arrived.

Foot Mercato have already reported that Everton have had an offer rejected for Ouattara, and with Leicester now interested in signing the African talent, the race to bring the forward to England is beginning to hot up, with both sides eager to add to their attacks this January.

Indeed, Everton and Leicester have endured rough first opening halves to the season, yet signing Ouattara has the potential to change their fortunes around in a big way given just how good the versatile winger has been in Ligue 1 this season.

Both Premier League sides could do with a powerful forward in their ranks, and with Ouattara seemingly available for the right price, Everton and Leicester could soon battle it out in the transfer market to sign the Lorient superstar this January.

Few managers in the Premier League need as big a boost at the moment than Frank Lampard, with the Everton boss now the bookies favourite to be sacked next as the Toffees are looking down the barrel of another relegation scrap. Which is why signing Ouattara over Leicester would be such a coup for the English coach.

After all, Everton are in need of reinforcements to their attacking ranks this January, and Ouattara’s record this season with Lorient makes the 20-year-old a safe bet to succeed in the Premier League in 2023, with Lampard needing a win in the market this month.
