Atalanta reportedly fear that Duvan Zapata has played his last game for the club with Everton currently in talks to sign the Colombian international on loan.
According to Il Giorno, the Toffees are in discussions with the Serie A side to sign the 31-year-old attacker on loan with a £15m option to buy, with Frank Lampard’s side pushing hard to bring Zapata to Everton this January transfer window.
One of the most consistent goalscorers in Italy in the past few years, Zapata is looking to be Everton’s first signing of the month as the Merseyside club sit 19th in the Premier League standings and in desperate need of some attacking reinforcements in the market.
And Zapata could be the perfect signing for Everton, with the striker lauded as a ‘goal machine‘ by the Italian media and a player who has come close to moving to England on numerous occasions in the past. However, it now looks certain that Lampard’s side will soon win the race for the forward.

Indeed, Everton have been one of the most goal-shy clubs in the Premier League this season, and after this weekend’s 2-1 loss to Southampton, there’s a real sense around Goodison Park that urgent work needs to be done to keep the historic English side in the top-flight.
And this latest update from Italy is exactly what Everton fans needed to hear, with Atalanta now fearing that Zapata, who this season has hit double figures in Serie A in four of the last five seasons, will soon leave Bergamo for Liverpool, much to the enjoyment of Lampard.
Everton signing Zapata could save Toffees from historic relegation

Everton need something akin to a miracle if they’re to save themselves from this current run of form. Yet with the January window in full swing and talks ongoing with Zapata, that lifeline could soon be on its way, with the striker the potential solution for the Goodison Park side.
After all, Zapata has the potential to be a superstar in England with Everton. And with the Toffees in desperate need of a new leading attacker, the South American talisman could be ideal for Lampard as the English coach looks to save his team from relegation yet again.
