Everton are considering resurrecting a move to sign Dalian Pro striker Salomon Rondon before the transfer window slams shut on Tuesday.
That’s according to The Telegraph, who claim that Rafael Benitez is considering a push for the centre forward before the deadline.
Rondon is understood to be ‘eager’ to quit playing in China and come back to the Premier League, and reuniting with Benitez makes sense.
The Venezuelan played under Benitez during the 2018-19 season having joined Newcastle United on loan from West Bromwich Albion following their relegation to the Championship.
Rondon fared well under Benitez, notching 12 goals in 33 games for the Magpies before then following Benitez to Dalian Pro in China.
With 14 goals in 28 games for Dalian, Rondon again posted a decent goalscoring record before heading back to Russia – where he excelled with Rubin Kazan and Zenit St Petersburg – by signing for CSKA Moscow on loan.
Now looking for a return to England, it makes sense to pair Benitez and Rondon together again, especially considering what Everton are seeking.

The Toffees seemingly want competition for Dominic Calvert-Lewin in attack, and Rondon offers an experienced option at the age of 31.
The Athletic reported earlier this month that a deal for Rondon had been attempted, but had collapsed due to problems over the structure of the deal.
It now seems that Everton are revisiting the move for Rondon ahead of the deadline, but time is running out.
