Wolves will have to spend big to sign Jack Butland, but Everton have shown that investing big money in a goalkeeper is worthwhile.

The report claims Wolves will have to pay £35 million to land the goalkeeper, who could be relegated with Stoke City later this month barring a late turnaround.
It is a huge fee for the 25-year-old, but there is precedent for Stoke to demand the figure being discussed.
Everton set the bar for spending on goalkeepers last summer when they shelled out a then club record deal to sign Jordan Pickford from relegated Sunderland.

The fee was £25 million potentially rising to £30 million with add ons.
Pickford was younger than Butland and has fewer England caps but he is in the mix for a place in this summer’s World Cup squad alongside the Stoke stopper.
It has been a difficult first season for Pickford at Everton but he has performed well and last night scooped awards at last night’s player of the season bash.
Already he looks like money well spent and Wolves should not be deterred from paying big for Butland.
It is an expensive fee but he has the potential to star for them for the next decade if all goes to plan and £35 million is close to being simply the market rate for an England international goalkeeper proven in the Premier League with his peak years ahead of him.
