Juventus have discussed a potential return for Moise Kean during a meeting with the Everton striker’s agent, Mino Raiola, on Thursday, according to TuttoMercatoWEB.
Raiola visited the Bianconeri’s Continassa training base to discuss the futures of several of his clients as Deadline Day nears. The Serie A giants also met with fellow super-agent Jorge Mendes, as they strive to assemble the best squad possible for coach Massimiliano Allegri.
Juventus have given thought to the prospect of Kean returning to Turin just two years after the Italian joined Everton. The Toffees paid the Old Lady an initial £29m, plus a further £8m in add-ons, but his future is questionable.
Everton are open to either selling or loaning Kean for the 2021/22 season, as he desires a change, per TMW. The 21-year-old, who spent last term with Paris Saint-Germain, recently attracted interest from Inter Milan and Fiorentina. But Juventus are now his best chance.
The £53,000-per-week forward played a prominent role in discussions between Raiola and the Bianconeri, given the Toffees’ stance. Sky Sports also report Kean is one of several players Director of Football Marcel Brands will listen to offers for.
Juventus are considering a return for Kean as he would still count as a homegrown player in the Champions League. The nine-cap international honed his trade in Turin before moving to Merseyside. He eventually graduated to make 21 first-team outings, scoring eight goals.
Kean’s Juventus parting fell in line with Allegri’s exit from the helm, under whom he made all his senior appearances. The 54-year-old coach returned to the Allianz Stadium this May to replace Andrea Pirlo after a two-year sabbatical from management.
Should Everton sell Kean to Juventus?
Everton have been open to offers for Kean all summer, per the Liverpool Echo, as he offers their best chance at raising a substantial fee. Brands is still shopping several players ahead to Tuesday’s deadline, too, to boost Rafa Benitez’s available budget for last-ditch signings.
Juventus could be Everton’s saviour, in that respect, if they advance their interest in Kean after speaking with Raiola. Gazzetta dello Sport reported back in May that Allegri’s return had piqued his interest in potentially re-joining the Bianconeri. Now, he may get a chance.
Brands will not have to cave in to Juventus in negotiations, either, after shrewd business in the 2019 deal. The Guardian note Everton denied the Serie A giants a buyback clause. Now, that will work for them in any talks for the forward Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel praises.
“[Kean] has a big heart,” Tuchel said, via BeIN Sports while in charge of PSG. “He puts on intensity, he is not afraid, he is courageous, he does what is necessary. I wouldn’t want to be a defender against him right now, it’s really hard to play against him.”
