Robin Olsen has told Fotbollskanalen that he is looking forward to helping Sheffield United return to the Premier League, after overlooking a potential return to Everton this summer.
The Blades loaned the Sweden shot-stopper from Roma on Deadline Day to replace Aaron Ramsdale, after he joined Arsenal. Per The Star, Slavisa Jokanovic urged the Bramall Lane outfit to sign a quality successor, but Olsen made him wait while considering his options.
Roma wanted to sell Olsen after spending last season on loan at Everton, as Jose Mourinho also signed Rui Patricio. Expressen reported the Toffees explored a potential return for the 31-year-old, too. Yet, seemingly, baulked at the Giallorossi’s 60million Krone (£7m) price tag.

Olsen featured 11 times during his spell with Everton, and could make his Sheffield United debut against Peterborough on Saturday. And Olsen is excited about their promotion bid.
“I am very happy that it was resolved in the end,” Olsen said. “The talk started already during the European Championships and there were rumours about clubs. But for me, the focus was to perform during the European Championships and to follow suit.
“I have two years left [on my contract] with Roma, it was probably their chance now to sell me and make good money. I do not want to go into which clubs negotiated with Roma. I’m just happy and relieved that it worked out. Sheffield [United] is a nice club that was in the PL and has the ambition to go up again. I want to be part of that journey.
“Then it’s the case that I need playing time. And I enjoyed myself in England last year and felt that I wanted to stay in England. I hope that the journey there can end very well.”
Olsen has clear path to #1 spot at Sheffield United after Everton snub
Olsen has a clear path to the #1 jersey at Sheffield United after Ramsdale joined Arsenal, which was never the case at Everton. He served as Jordan Pickford’s deputy throughout his year-long loan, often only featuring if the England ace was injured.
Michael Verrips and Wes Foderingham had the chance to take over as the Blades’ first-choice ‘keeper. But the former conceded four to West Brom in his outing, while the latter delivered a mixed performance against Huddersfield.
The Blades have not won any of their opening five games under Jokanovic to sit 23rd in the Championship. They additionally hold the second-tier’s worst goal difference at minus-six. Aspects Jokanovic will hope Olsen can help atone after snubbing a potential return to Everton for Sheffield United. Who already face a challenge to regain a Premier League spot.
