Everton have wrapped up three signings this week, with Andros Townsend reuniting with his former Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez.

The Toffees needed to back Benitez with new signings, and he has gone with three players who have Premier League experience in their locker.

Goalkeeper Asmir Begovic and winger Demarai Gray have arrived, and the real eyebrow-raiser was the deal to sign Townsend.

Released by Crystal Palace this summer, few Everton fans had Townsend on their wish lists.

Benitez is a big fan of Townsend though, having managed him at Newcastle United back in 2016.

Signing him for free and adding depth out wide seems pretty good for Everton, even if Townsend isn’t a particularly exciting or big-name addition.

Benitez isn’t the only one who loves Townsend, as his former Tottenham pal Ryan Mason remains close with the winger.

Spurs coach Mason came through the Tottenham ranks with Townsend, and then to only played for Spurs together, but also for England.

Townsend took to Instagram to celebrate his move to Goodison Park, and Mason offered just two words – ‘fully deserved’.

Some may feel that Townsend isn’t of the level Tottenham need, but Mason clearly feels that Townsend has earned his move and will prove his worth over time.
