Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United will reportedly have to pay £70 million for Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
According to The Daily Star, Manchester United are interested in signing Jordan Pickford from Premier League rivals Everton in the summer transfer window.
United manager Erik ten Hag personally wants to sign the England international goalkeeper.
However, Everton want as much as £70 million for Pickford, described as “incredible” by former Toffees winger Andros Townsend on talkSPORT (7:14am, June 19, 2023).
United thought that they would be able to sign the 29-year-old goalkeeper for £45 million.
The Daily Star has reported that United have now moved on from Pickford and are trying to get a deal done with Inter Milan for goalkeeper Andre Onana.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that Onana has agreed to move to the Red Devils.
Everton stance on Manchester United target Jordan Pickford is sensible
In our opinion, Everton are justified in their valuation of Jordan Pickford.
Yes, £70 million is a lot of money and Manchester United were never going to pay that.
However, Pickford is a very good goalkeeper who is at the top of his game and is a key figure at Everton.
By telling United to pay £70 million for Pickford, Everton were sending a clear message to their Premier League rivals.
The message was that Pickford is not for sale.
The goalkeeper himself has recently made it clear that he wants to stay at Everton.
After all, the 29-year-old signed a new long-term contract with Everton in February 2023.
And Everton did not get relegated to the Championship at the end of last season.
Why would the Toffees sell one of their best players just after surviving in the Premier League?
Of course, every player has their price, but it is hard to see any club pay £70 million for a 29-year-old goalkeeper.
Pickford has made 248 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
The 29-year-old has kept 62 clean sheets in those games.
