The father of Sporting Lisbon forward Youssef Chermiti has confirmed to Fabrizio Romano that his son his closing in on an initial £13 million move to Premier League outfit Everton.
The sight of Amadou Onana bundling home a stoppage time winner with the last kick of the game at Stoke City may have put a smile on the faces of the travelling Everton support, but it did little much to offset the nagging concerns ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
Only Wolves (31) scored fewer top-flight goals than the Toffees in 2022/23 (34).

So with Dominic Calvert-Lewin yet to return to full fitness, with Ellis Simms sold to Coventry City, and with Sean Dyche’s side finding the net just four times in four pre-season games this summer, Youssef Chermiti will be arriving at Goodison Park with a lot of pressure on his still-broadening shoulders.
Everton close in on Youssef Chermiti deal with Sporting Lisbon
Everton, according to Record, will pay £13 million – rising to £17 million – for a 19-year-old centre-forward who only made his senior league debut in January and has a grand total of three Sporting Lisbon goals under his belt.
Fabrizio Romano broke the news of Everton’s ‘agreement’ on Monday lunchtime. The teenager’s father has now done the same.
“Yes, we were informed that Sporting agreed a deal in principle to transfer Youssef,” he tells Romano. “Now, we will calmly analyse the proposal that Everton has just presented to us.”
At 6ft 4ins, the quick, powerful and athletic centre-forward looks well suited to Dyche’s direct approach. The former Burnley boss coaxed double-digit Premier League returns out of Sam Vokes, Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood, though getting similar results from one as inexperienced and as raw as Chermiti may be a far greater task.

Everton turned to the Portugal U19 international after missing out on El Bilal Toure to Atalanta. The Toffees reportedly had a bid accepted by UD Almeria, but Atalanta used the funds brought in by the impending sale of Rasmus Hojlund to Manchester United in order to seal a £25 million deal.
