Everton target Mouctar Diakhaby is ‘very interested’ in a transfer away from Lyon this summer, according to Le10Sport.

Diakhaby, 21, is a centre-back who has made 21 appearances for Lyon’s first team this season.

The Daily Mail reported last month that Everton have sent scouts to watch Diakhaby in action, while Watford, Chelsea and Manchester City are all also interested.

The latest speculation over Diakhaby centres on interest from Spanish side Valencia.

Valencia have also been scouting Diakhaby and are claimed to be weighing up a summer move.

If this doesn’t serve to spring Everton into action, then the news he is open to a move just might.

Diakhaby is a raw talent but he has shown signs of becoming a top player. It is better for Everton to bring in players of his profile then try to buy and risk over paying for established stars who are past their peak.

The defender may benefit from staying another year at Lyon but if he is keen on a move then the Toffees would do well to bring him in.
