Everton supporters have been reacting on Twitter to David Brooks’ performance for Sheffield United during Sunday’s Steel City derby win against Sheffield Wednesday.
Brooks has been repeatedly linked with a move to Everton since starring for England Under-20s at this summer’s Toulon Tournament, at which he was named best player.
With only one league start to speak of beforehand, yesterday’s Hillsborough outing – which was broadcast live on Sky Sports – is likely to have been may Toffees fans’ first glimpse of the Warrington-born talent in action.
And it would appear he made quite an impression…
Brooks would not be the first player to swap Sheffield United for Everton, after Toffees first teamers Phil Jagielka and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
And there is a strong Blades influence behind the scenes too, with former Bramall Lane defenders David Unsworth and Jamie Hoyland employed as Everton’s Under-23s coach and scout respectively.
But United fans have warned the Premier League side that Brooks will not come cheap, if they do wish to sign the 20-year-old.
