The Spaniard is not wanted at Chelsea, who want Everton striker Romelu Lukaku.

Chelsea striker Diego Costa has today claimed that he has been informed by boss Antonio Conte that he is no longer wanted at Stamford Bridge. The Spanish striker has been heavily linked with a move to the Chinese Super League, albeit his favoured choice is a return to former club Atletico Madrid.

But, with Los Colchoneros currently under a transfer embargo until next year, that is not an option.

Chelsea are already exploring options to replace Costa, with a return for Romelu Lukaku hotly anticipated.

Everton should therefore take note. Chelsea will need to spend big to bring their former player back to Stamford Bridge. Everton could offer them a chance to sweeten the deal by throwing Costa in on loan.

As part of any deal Chelsea could massively subsidise the wages of Costa to help accommodate his Everton move. The Toffees meanwhile would be replacing one world-class striker with another and keep their fans happy in the process.

For Costa, it is a win-win situation. He would play regular football for Everton in a World Cup year and whilst Europa League football is not the Champions League, he’d still be playing in Europe.

Then, when his loan deal is up, Atletico’s embargo will be lifted and he can head to the Vicente Calderon.

This is a deal that looks unlikely at first, but makes perfect sense for Everton, Chelsea and Costa.
