Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has scored seven times so far this season.
Romelu Lukaku has told the Daily Mail that he told Everton boss Ronald Koeman that he would not cause any trouble at Goodison Park, during his first conversation with the Dutch boss.
Lukaku was linked with a move away from Everton last summer, and the 23-year-old had hinted that he would be open to leaving the Merseyside club.
However, Lukaku insists that he promised Koeman that he would not kick up a fuss, if the Everton boss decided to reject all offers for his services.
“I told him straight away whatever happens, I’m not here to create any problems,’ Lukaku said.
“I am a guy who has to be at 100 per cent and that is what I am going to do. He knew it straight away. When I came back in, I was working more than ever before, to get fit and to do my best for the team. The first few games didn’t go so well but I was getting physically better.”
Lukaku has been linked with the likes of Real Madrid and Chelsea in recent times, but Everton were determined to keep hold of their prized attacker.
Lukaku remains one of the most feared marksmen in the Premier League, and Everton were under no pressure to sell him, following the investment of Farhad Moshiri.
Koeman’s decision to keep hold of Lukaku has proved to be a wise move, as the Belgian international has been in fine form this term.
Lukaku has netted seven goals in 10 appearances for the Toffees in all competitions, which puts him at the top of the Merseyside club’s scoring charts by a considerable distance.
