Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin has told BT Sport that Leeds United’s pitch was ‘slippy’ last night.

Leeds’ newly installed surface looked pristine when the players walked out on it, but it was clear to see that the teams were having issues standing on it.

Leeds, in particular, seem to struggle to keep their balance, with their players falling over numerous times.

And Calvert-Lewin admits that the surface wasn’t the most ideal.

“It was slippy!” said Calvert-Lewin.

“I think you have seen a lot of the lads slipping.

“I’ve got metal studs on but there’s nothing you can do sometimes so it’s just about trying to stay on your feet as best as you can.”

Leeds will hope that the pitch does improve after it has bedded in for longer.

Calvert-Lewin is unlikely to be too cross about the newly laid surface either, as he got on the scoresheet in a 2-1 win for Everton last night.

The Toffees raced into a two-goal lead in the first-half and although Leeds fought back in the second period they just couldn’t overturn the deficit.

Everton have now moved up to sixth place in the Premier League table, while Leeds sit in 11th.
