Everton signed Idrissa Gueye from Aston Villa after they activated his £7 million release clause in August.

Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye has stated his intention to repay the faith shown in him by Blues boss Ronald Koeman in saving him from a season in the Championship with Aston Villa, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.
The 27-year-old Senegal international has been a mainstay in the Toffees side so far this season, appearing in all nine of their Premier League outings, and has been an instant hit amongst Everton fans with his high-intensity, energetic displays.
Gueye described his determination to prove that Koeman was right in bringing him to Goodison Park, and how quickly he has settled at his new club, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo:

“Everton saw something in my game and my qualities. Now it is all about trying to pay them back. I’m pleased with how the season has started. It has almost been like an automatic understanding with the players.”
Gueye’s inclusion in the Everton side has given the Blues an entirely different look about them in the middle of the park, with his added levels of aggression and intensity being used to perfect effect by Koeman.

He has striking similarities with N’Golo Kante in the way that he seems tireless in the way he goes about his job, constantly snapping at the heels of the opposition players, but arguably with a higher technical capacity than the Frenchman.
He has certainly been a great addition to the Everton side, and now the real challenge begins for him to prove himself on a consistent basis over the course of the entire season.
