Romelu Lukaku has lamented the manner of Tottenham’s win over Everton.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Lukaku feels Everton’s individual mistakes made it easy for their opponents.
Everton slipped to a 3-2 defeat at White Hart Lane but never really looked like winning the game.
He said: “If you look back at the three goals that they scored, they were goals that we gave them, instead of them creating the goals.
“To be fair we fought back at the end of the game but to lose 3-2 is disappointing.”
Lukaku clearly feels Everton could have coped better with Spurs and made them earn their victory, rather than gifting it to them.
He added: “We came here to have a good result but we made mistakes and they were 2-0 up.”
Lukaku scored once to give his side a lifeline but Tottenham were in control, and managed seven shots on target to Everton’s four.
Harry Kane netted twice to lead the Golden Boot race outright, with Dele Alli adding another.
Everton had been in strong form ahead of the fixture, unbeaten in their previous nine league matches.
They had also kept clean sheets in their previous two games, so to concede three showed there is still plenty of work to do.
In Tottenham they ran into a team who are one of the most ruthless in the division.
Make a mistake against them and you will get punished, whereas similar errors against another team, Everton may have got away with.
Lesson learned? Everton will have to wait until their next fixture against Spurs next season to find that out.
