The Everton midfielder will hope to feature against his old foe.
Everton take on Liverpool in the Merseyside derby on Monday night with plenty at stake for both clubs.
The Toffees are hoping to build on what was an impressive performance and result against Arsenal in the Premier League in midweek. Liverpool meanwhile put in perhaps the most impressive attacking display of the season so far in their 3-0 triumph at Middlesbrough the following night.
Everton’s Ross Barkley scores their second goal
With that in mind it is going to be a big clash between the two Merseyside rivals, although not many local lads are likely to feature.
One that will is Everton midfielder Ross Barkley.
The England international posted this message on his Twitter account earlier today – highlighting the work going into being prepared for a tough game against Everton’s local rivals:
Barkley was reintroduced into the Everton starting XI against Arsenal and put in a much improved display after what has been a difficult run of form for him in recent weeks.
Everton fans are hoping to see him get back to his very best and a Merseyside derby would be the perfect time to find such form yet again.
