Everton have reportedly offered £50 million for the Watford winger.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, Everton are close to wrapping up a £50 million deal to sign Watford winger Richarlison, but should Toffees fans be concerned that their club are reportedly close to laying out such a substantial amount of money on someone who is far from the finished article?
The Brazilian joined the Hornets from Fluminese in the summer of 2017, and hit the ground running at Vicarage Road, scoring five goals in his first 13 appearances for the club.
He failed to hit the back of the net from November onwards, however, and that should be a real concern for Everton.
In fact, the 21-year-old’s attacking output for the entire season left a lot to be desired. He notched up just five goals and five assists in 41 appearances in all competitions for Watford last term, and it is hard to fathom how and why he is worth anywhere near £50 million.
Everton have plenty of attacking players who have, unfortunately for them, flattered to deceive in recent years, and Richarlison could very well be very much of the same.
The Watford man is obviously talented, and has a lot of potential, that cannot be denied, but spending £50 million on signing him this summer would represent a massive risk for Everton, and it could turn out to be beyond wasteful.
