Everton are expected to be extremely busy during this month’s transfer window.

The Toffees enjoyed a respectable campaign in the Premier League this season, although their seventh placed finish would have been the very least that their fans would have expected heading into the season.
It will be vital for Ronald Koeman to strengthen his squad throughout the course of the summer, if he is to guide his side to Champions League qualification.
One particular area of the Everton side that needs strengthening is midfield, what with Gareth Barry on the wrong side of 36, and James McCarthy’s future at Goodison Park far from certain.
PSG’s Blaise Matuidi
With this in mind, an interesting, albeit bold, option for the Blues would be Paris Saint-Germain’s Blaise Matuidi, who has been linked with the Parc des Princes exit door in recent weeks. The Sun have linked the France international with a move to Manchester United, and although it won’t be easy, the Toffees should attempt to convince Matuidi that Merseyside is the right place for him to ply his trade.
The left-footed 30-year-old is a powerful player, and although he is an orthodox central midfielder, he can be utilised pretty much all over the pitch.
Matuidi has a tremendous drive and is in possession of an engine that will undoubtedly be the envy of his fellow pros. He would inject a certain level of energy and enthusiasm into the Everton midfield, should a move come to fruition, and could strike up a formidable midfield partnership with Morgan Schneiderlin and Idrissa Gueye.

The PSG man has been with the club for six years, and only has one year remaining on his current deal in Paris, so the transfer fee needed to prise him away would surely not be an extortionate one.
The tricky part of the deal would be in convincing the four-time Ligue 1 winner to move to a club that cannot offer Champions League football.
Everton are a club on the rise, however, with big things expected of them over the next decade, and joining that kind of exciting project might very well appeal to Matuidi.
If Koeman does manage to pull off a deal for someone of the Frenchman’s ilk, the Toffees have every chance of making genuine progress next term.
