Everton are said to have sent scouts to watch Thomas Delaine in recent weeks.

According to Le Parisan, Everton are scouting Thomas Delaine – but there is surely no way they should be signing the FC Paris left-back.

Everton may need addition on the left-hand side of their defence, but if they bring in Delaine to solve their current problems then serious questions will be asked.

Delaine may have had a solid season in Ligue 2, but he is now 26 and is hardly a signing that would take Everton on to the next level.

Sam Allardyce has already suggested that he only wants to make additions that would improve Everton’s first-team.

And suggesting that Delaine would be an upgrade on Leighton Baines would be a tough argument to make.

Delaine is currently playing in the second tier of French football, and he has never played at a higher standard.

Given that the full-back is already 26, he can hardly be considered a promising prospect anymore.

And Everton would be better off avoiding the deal and looking at more proven talent this summer.
