According to the printed edition of the Daily Mirror (30/09, page 65), Everton are scouting Nicolas Pepe from Lille, but there has to be question marks over whether he is needed.

Pepe has shown flashes of quality in Ligue 1 this season, with his performances earning him credit.

The youngster is considered to be one of the brightest attacking sparks in France, but Everton are well stocked in the wide areas.

Everton already have Richarlison and Theo Walcott, who have been two of the stars of their season so far.

Pepe seems unlikely to break up the attacking partnership between Richarlison and Walcott, and even beyond that Marco Silva has options.

Ademola Lookman and Dominic Calvert-Lewin both have bright futures at Goodison Park, while Bernard looks as if he could be a wonderful addition.

And signing Pepe would be pointless for Everton, as they are far better off focusing on other areas of their team which need improvements more urgently.
