A midfielder will be key for Everton, and The Sun now claim that the Toffees want to bring in Real Betis star Giovani Lo Celso after his 16-goal campaign this season.
The Argentinian just signed permanently for Betis after a superb loan spell from Paris Saint-Germain, and Everton are thought to be challenging Tottenham for his signature, with a fee of more than £40millon expected.
Beating Tottenham to Lo Celso would be a huge coup for Everton, but it may also mean that Andre Gomes isn’t staying permanently – and may push him towards Tottenham instead.
The Telegraph report that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is ready to sanction a £30million move to sign Gomes from Barcelona this summer, having impressed out on loan at Everton.
Both Lo Celso and Gomes are technically gifted central midfielders with the ability to carry the ball, meaning it’s unlikely either side will sign both of them, instead potentially landing one each.
