According to GazzaMercato, Everton are chasing Joao Mario from Inter Milan, but if they want to keep up the good feeling around Goodison Park then they are going to need better.
Mario spent the back end of last season at West Ham United, but during his time at the London Stadium, he proved to be nothing better than a middling Premier League midfielder.

While Mario is still 23, and has room to improve, his arrival at Everton would be thoroughly underwhelming.
Marco Silva has suggested that big names could be on their way to Everton this summer, and Marcel Brands’ addition as director of football has created great excitement.
There is genuine optimism that Brands and Silva could elevate Everton to the next level, and some of their reported transfer targets do appear to be eye-catching.
Everton have been linked with the likes of Hirving Lozano and Ante Rebic, who have shone at the World Cup, in the Liverpool Echo, while promising youngster Kieran Tierney is also believed to be of interest.
These rumours have created great anticipation over who could arrive at Everton this summer.
However, if Mario is the first player to walk through the door, it may create a sense of disappointment which Everton really can’t afford right now.
