Mangala arrives with a point to prove, having only played a bit-part role at City – and this stood to be reduced with the arrival of Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte.
City paid big money to sign Mangala in 2014 but he failed to live up to expectations, and was loaned to Valencia last season.
Despite never quite managing to really stake his claim successfully at City, he was a player much admired for his character by supporters.
While he arrives at Goodison Park with his doubters, messages from Manchester City fans in response to his goodbye message should re-assure Toffeees supporters that they have signed a top pro, who could be better suited to playing under manager Sam Allardyce.
It is unclear whether Everton see Mangala as a regular starter or a back-up, at this stage it likely depends on how much he is able to impress early on.
