Brazilian playmaker Bernard has posted on Twitter after making his Everton debut since completing a move to Goodison Park on a free from Shakhtar Donetsk – and some Toffees fans are desperate to see him impress on Wednesday.

Bernard, 25, was introduced in the final five minutes of the Premier League clash against Bournemouth, replacing Theo Walcott as the two sides drew 2-2 in an enthralling encounter at the Vitality Stadium.

Everton went down to 10 men after Richarlison was sent off for headbutting Bournemouth defender Adam Smith. Nevertheless, Walcott and Michael Keane put Everton 2-0 up. Smith was sent off 20 minutes later on the hour mark.

Despite this, Bournemouth then scored two goals in the space of four minutes through Josh King and Nathan Ake to equalise 2-2, setting up an exciting last 10 minutes – but neither side could find the winner. Bernard posted on Twitter after the match.

Coming on for five minutes, Bernard could now start against Championship minnows Rotherham on Wednesday night, as the Merseyside outfit play host to the Millers in the second round of the Carabao Cup.

Everton have entered the competition at this early stage after failing to qualify for European competition, and manager Marco Silva is likely to make a number of changes – and one could see Bernard make a full debut.

Some Everton fans reacted to Bernard’s Tweet, urging him to show his worth on Wednesday against a Rotherham side that have started the season in much better fashion than expected – beating Ipswich, Wigan and Millwall so far.
