Everton are said to be interested in snapping up Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera.

McCarthy is still looking to recover from injury, after breaking his leg last season.
The Republic of Ireland international is edging closer to making a comeback, but if Herrera was to arrive at Goodison Park, then his pathway back to Marco Silva’s side would be blocked.
McCarthy already faces a big fight to win his place back in Everton’s midfield.
Idrissa Gueye has been in excellent form this season, while Andre Gomes has performed well since starting in recent weeks.

Silva is also known to be a big fan of Tom Davies, and if Herrera was also to arrive, then McCarthy could return to fitness as fifth choice.
Marcel Brands is said to be working on a deal to bring Herrera to Merseyside in the new year.
And if the transfer goes through, then McCarthy may have to question his future at Everton, as he would face an uphill struggle to get back into Silva’s side.
